Hi all. I'm new to the forums, being referred by pray11342, so I thought after lurking and skulking for a couple of weeks it was about time to say Hi.
And no better way to say Hi than to tell you I'm out in woods west of Lansing, and just heard the news that the "working mans hero", Lansing mayor Virg Bernero, is now begging to be the governor of the Great State of Michigan. Huh.
I just wanted to ask you folks what you think about this "major" development in the govs race and thought my first post should be in one of the three untouchable topics for new acquaintances, religion, sex, or politics. Since I don't know anything useful about sex, and don't much care about most peoples opinion on religion, they both give me a headache, I chose politics because I get so frustrated with state government and almost everyone has an opinion.
So what say you? Thumbs up on Virg or thumbs down? What do you really think about the governors race?

Looks like Lansing has one of the lower unemployment rates in the state...not that that amounts to much.

I know the man personally and we share the same values.
I contacted Hoekstra about an issue and received no reply, not even the usual obligatory form letter.
Yeah! I know I do not live in his district but it was about a national issue.

That is because so many people in Lansing work for State Government.
Do you really think the people that work for the state will be some of the first to be put out of a job. Not as long as someone is still paying taxes.
Also Lansing is one of the top cities for the highest percentile for job loss in a year. Not the top but one of the top for job losses. 8000 people lost jobs in the Lansing area.
East Lansing being counted in that area is the only thing that kept Lansing from being a higher percentile in the count. Thanks MSU a city in it's own, but part of East Lansing.
Bernero has been on watch that last year of job loss in Lansing.

...That makes sense.

Quite frank- I could care less as-long as it's a Conservative.

That's reason enough for me to campaign against him..

I really don't call the loss of 8000 jobs in the Lansing area in one year doing a good job.
What would Bernero do for the whole state?
Show me he is the man if you can.
