2004 Budget was already in place when MM hired on. Her first full-time year in the job was 2005 - conclusions can be drawn very easily.

New title, new person, new salary...

I spoke with someone from the Finance office? I was transferred there from the Administrator's office. The 2 lines for salary are for different people. MM gets 751 a week as supervisor. Administrator salary is for the 2 employees that work in her office

I'm sensing a little deception there Inky. why would the commissioner's consider doing a national search for a county coordinator position that only pays $39,052?

I didn't say that I believed her. I just posted what her answer to that was.

$1,751 hits closer to what Kaylor posted. $1,751 X 52 = $91,052. Are you sure you didn't mistake a seventeen for a seven? Perhaps the person in the finance office accidentally mumbled..

Okay - here is what I know of with the line items.

Supervisory Salary is for the Department Head - in this case MM with an adopted line item of $74,414

Permanent Salary is for all other staff for the department with an adopted line item of $86,910.

The confusion is because the supervisor's salary is pretty darned close to all of the staff combined.

Payroll is bi-weekly (approximately 26 pay periods each year) - Which means it would be about $2,800 every pay period for the Administrator or $1400 per week....

To make a better example - look at the Clerks Office as an example -

Supervisors Salary is adopted at $50,424
Permanent Salary is adopted at $180,045.

Now that is just the salary - that isn't the cost of employment which obviously includes payroll taxes, retirement benefits, health benefits, mileage, 'training'.... then of course there is the 'labor burden' which includes paid holidays, personal days, vacation days, sick days. Those are considered a liability due to the fact that you are obligated to pay that person for those days, when they are not actually working.

As an example - the cost to employ someone is $80,000.00 (including health benefits and payroll tax liability). 52 weeks x 40/hr per week is 2,080 hours which gets you a per/hour rate. The county has a mandatory 1 hour furlough each week - we now have 2,028 hours. The county has 15 paid holidays this year - we now have 1,908 hours. This particular employee has 4 paid personal days each year - we now have 1,876 hours. This particular employee has 5 weeks paid vacation per year - we now have 1,676 hours. With just this rough estimation - the actual hourly rate that needs to be attached to all work done during productive hours is $47.73 per hour. If you were working in production at a plant - that would be the cost of your labor to put together your product. Or, if you were doing repair work - that is the actual cost per hour that you must collect in order to cover just the expense of that employee - not even counting overhead for the facilities.

PS - I am absolutely not making a judgment on any employee on whether they are 'worth' their salary. It is just a clearer view as to what the cost of employment is - and I think there are certain employees who are worth way more than the cost of their employment.

IMO, The amount of M McAvoy's salery is not as important as weather or not she is worthy of it..

Are we paying her to middle man between the commissioner's and Finance personnel or is she instrumental in saving the county money?

Does she bring federal and state grant money to the county that is at or above what would be considered no brain er grants?

Does she do her part to maintain a happy workforce within the county office's, or are her actions/attitude disruptive to the county workers?

Has she done everything possible to avoid our county being involved in unnecessary law suits or has she unintentionally promoted said lawsuits?

What will become of the 50 grand Dr Parks & Dr Cotey paid the county treasure that became the Prosecutor’s Assets? Is that enough to bring back a much needed laid off employee?
Bringing an employee back should reduce the unemployment fund too, that could be added to the 50K the Doctors paid.

Between now and August while Colbry still has a job perhaps he could get a little more money added to the 266 fund.
